A Prysmian cable with Pry-ID laid today can still be found decades from now, thanks to the Pry-ID integration. At Nettverksuken in Norway, Groundhawk and Prysmian showed how the Pry-ID integration works.
Prysmian’s Pry-ID marks cables with RFID tags. Groundhawk captures the cable’s position in 3D, at centimetre-level accuracy, while the trench is still open. The integration brings the two together, so the cable’s identity and its location end up in the network owner’s database.
For a Prysmian cable with Pry-ID, this means the cable can be identified with its RFID tags, whether 5 days or 50 years after construction. Precise cable and tag locations are collected in the network owner’s database. Planning, building and quality assurance run as one end-to-end process.
Thank you to Prysmian, and to everyone who came to talk with us about the integration at Nettverksuken.
